being a huge fan of polish rap, i have always dreamt of designing CD covers. since i’m not quite there yet, i passionately design covers for my spotify playlists. recently, i went a step further and created the full front and back cover for the mixtape i made for my boyfriend. we went kayaking on our first date and repeatedly joked that we have ‘drowned’ in love against our will to remain single at the time. this led to a rather dramatic cover portraying a person who is falling/drowning, while the red and purple colour palette reflects the growing affection, romance, and mystery of the shared future.
poland endured eight years of undemocratic government. given that my preferred version of self-care is action, to help my pre-election anxiety, i started creating posters motivating the poles to go to voting urns. the result? we achieved a record turnout of 74%, instilling hope in the minds of many who have been marginalised for the past few years. i like to think that i contributed to an upcoming change - even if not nationwide, at least amongst my friends and followers.
i love all kinds of celebrations, especially the ones revolving around me - mostly, my birthday. for my 23rd, i threw a party – on the 23rd of june, the (polish) father’s day. the dress code was simple: “twój stary,” meaning “your old man” (how to explain the beauty of this phrase to a non-polish speaker??). i had immense fun creating a key visual that was used as a cover photo for the facebook event and invitations. there’s really nothing better than using my design skills for silly little projects like this one.
