a warsaw-based coffee roastery and shop sought packaging in line with their branding and concept. the translation of "proces kawki" is "the process of coffee", but it also echoes "the metamorphosis by Kafka", a novel by Franz Kafka. their logo features a maze within a coffee cup. for the packaging, i integrated graphic elements (region of origin, plantation amplitude, coffee weight, etc.) into the maze, serving asan interactive element - every path leads to proces kawki! this innovative approach enhances brand awareness and reinforces the core concept of the brand identity.

3 tiers of coffee

graphic system

due to the technical printing issues, the brief was to produce a monochromatic project. this led me to think: how could I make each of the 21 coffees unique within the constraints of a monochromatic palette? the founder of proces kawki passionately advocates for the inclusivity, availability, and approachability of coffee, steering away from exclusive specialty coffee clubs. to embody this philosophy, I devised a three-tiered system of advancement. featuring 21 coffees sourced from 3 distinct regions worldwide, south american coffees boast straightforward flavour profiles—a universal and affordable option for everyday coffee enthusiasts; moving to asia and oceania, the coffees exhibit more complex profiles; meanwhile, african coffees, marked by their rarity and a mosaic of flavours, present the most enigmatic taste experience.
with that in mind, south american coffee received a packaging with the simplest maze, this of asia and oceania - more complex, and africa – the most intricate maze.  this approach ensures that the progression in the realm of coffee aligns seamlessly with the maze's complexity on the packaging - a truly satisfying representation of the coffee exploration experience.
